Primary 3 Programme
Exploring Mathematical Thinking
Primary 3 marks a stage where learners begin thinking more critically. Our programme balances fun with structured learning, encouraging children to approach problems with logic and creativity.
Mathematics:
Lesson Duration: 2 hours
Class Size: 8 students
Students deepen their understanding of fractions, area & perimeter, and early heuristics. Step-by-step strategies and hands-on tasks help them break down multi-step problems with clarity, building independence, resilience, and confidence.
-
Content Mastery
Students will master foundational concepts in Number Sense, Four operations, Ordinal Numbers, Money, Length, Time, 2D Shapes, Patterns and Picture Graphs
Students will apply heuristics such as Make A List, Draw a Diagram and Restate the Problem to solve word problems
Skills and Techniques
Students will present word problems pictorially by drawing part-whole and comparison models
Students will apply heuristics including Make A List, Find A Pattern and Restate the Problem in problem solving
Students will use different measuring tools such as measuring tape and ruler to measure lengths and use a ruler to draw line segments
Students will develop critical thinking skills through topical challenging problems and Math Olympiad handouts
Applied Learning
Students will use manipulatives and in-class activities to carry out performance tasks in class, such as collecting data from classmates to apply to graph plotting and data analysis exercises
Students will revisit concepts using our in-house concept cards kit, termly story-based revision booklets and takeaways
Students will appreciate the real-life application of Math through arts, crafts and presentations such as presenting the designed architecture based on the concept of shapes and patterns
